How to get started with ABF
The most effective way to know if an agency is right for you is to do your homework. We here at ABF let you know that we are your best option ahead of time. Clients or their loved ones seek care during a time of great need. The majority of the time this brings on additional stress to the client and the right decisions are sometimes jeopardize from the lack of knowing what services are available for them at that time.
We here at ABF, help to simplify the process by meeting with you and the family to thoroughly assess the client’s current situation. This process helps to ensure that you are making the best decision and are being provided the care that is needed. It is our professional responsibility to help you make the right decisions and to provide you with the knowledge needed to promote a healthier lifestyle.
We are patient and understand that in order to provide the quality of care that you deserve we must inform you of everything we have to offer with our program. Questions will always get answered and a full explanation of our capabilities will be readily available upon our initial visit with you. A care plan will be put in place specific to the needs of the client. Our qualified staff will go to great lengths to guarantee that each client is matched with one of our devoted employees.
The choices you make are valued by each one of our staff members. We know that you have many options when it comes to home care. We strive on making sure our company stands out by providing an outstanding level of service through quality, commitment, dedication, leadership, communication, and passion. Registered Nurses (RNs)
Registered Nurses work to promote health, prevent disease, and help patients cope with illness. They are advocates and health educators for patients, families, and communities. When providing direct patient care they observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress in patients. At ABF our RN’s are trained to teach patients and their families how to manage their illness or injury. Our RN’s take pride in supervising tasks performed by CNA’s, PCA’s, and LPN’s. They also provide direct care and make decisions regarding plans of care for individuals and groups of healthy, ill, and injured.
Certified Nursing Assistants or Certified Nurse Assistants (CNAs)
Assist residents or patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) and provide bedside care--including basic nursing procedures. In order for good care to be provided to those patients a certified nurse assistant is needed to provide the routine care so that the nurse can focus on tasks only he/she can do, such as care plans, nursing assessments, and administering medication.
The certified nurse assistant must not only be very skilled in the actual procedures being performed but must also be able to make quick observations of a patient's condition and report that information back to the nurse. A certified nurse assistant must also have a strong grasp of emergency procedures and be able to stay calm in stressful situations. They must be well-drilled in CPR. Among the requirements for becoming a state-certified nurse assistant is the mastery of a set of basic skills. All ABF CNA’s are very professional and have been trained immensely to handle the daily challenges of home care.
Personal Care Assistants (PCA)
What is a Personal Care Assistant?
A personal care assistant (sometimes called a PCA) supports people with disabilities to live more independent lives. Personal care assistants are needed by adults with disabilities, including elders who have lost function due to the aging process.
What does a personal care assistant do?
At ABF the Personal Care Assistants are the voices to help with communication, the eyes for reading, feet to run errands or the hands that assist with eating, bathing, paperwork, or light housekeeping. Many people have a misinterpretation of a personal care assistant. They feel that the role of a PCA is to take care of people or the client. This is certainly not the case. The employer is the person with the disability. There may be situations where the client or person cannot do some things based on his/her disabilities. The role of a personal care assistant is to fill in the holes so that the person with a disability can do what everyone else does. At ABF the qualities that make our Personal care assistants stand out amongst the crowd are:
- Very respectful—they are patient enough to handle any situation and respect that they are coming into the client’s home,
- Dependable---you can always count on them to be in place on time to carry out the tasks that must be performed for each client,
- Honest and Trustworthy—We only hire personal care assistants after they have been fully screened and a background check has been administered,
- Willingness to learn—all of our assistants attend special training's to stay in compliance with state regulations,
- Able to follow directions---our assistants always follow the guidelines that are set in place by our organization,
- Good listeners---they are very in tune to the needs of our clients,
- Flexible---our assistants are flexible and willing to assist the needs of each client,
Great sense of humor - our personal care assistants make sure each of our clients that they support are full of joy and happiness at all times.
